5 Things We Wish You Knew About Pilates

  1. Pilates instructors all have different styles of teaching.

There are as many styles of classes as there are methods of teaching. Every instructor has their own personality, flair, approach and method. There is no one way of teaching a pilates class and clients must find what works best for them. At Miami Pilates, we focus on a strength based fitness approach that builds muscle, lengthens, tones and strengthens the body. Our classes are created intentionally and with a wealth of knowledge and experience in anatomy in order to avoid injuries and heal those who may be currently experiencing injury.

It is not to say that other styles of pilates classes don’t focus on strengthening, but at our studio we focus on targeting all muscle groups and all body parts in each class for a well rounded workout. We believe your time is limited and if you chose to spend it with us, we want you to get the most out of your workout and to see results as quickly as possible.

  2. Just because an instructor has been teaching for a longer time, doesn’t always mean they are going to be more knowledgeable. Do your own research and try different instructors and different studios to get an understanding of the instructors background and teaching style.

  3. Creating class plans takes time.

One thing clients don’t see on the back end of a pilates studio is the amount of time and effort instructors put into programming your routines. Everything we teach in class has been practiced and workshopped with our team for hours and hours. We will never teach something in a class that we have not practiced ourselves and experienced in our own bodies. We believe this method of sequencing to be the most effective for creating class content to ensure that whatever we are teaching our clients is something we are capable of doing ourselves. Not all studios are created equal in this and we believe a seamless, coherent class flow is one of the most important things to look for when discovering a new pilates studio.

  4. Not everyone is going to love us.

There are as many opinions about our classes as there are clients taking them. We cannot please everyone in every class. We have clients that are looking for classical pilates, and we have clients who are looking for contemporary. We have clients who are seeing a reformer for the first time ever and clients who have been practicing pilates for 15 years. Some think the class is super easy, some think it’s super hard. The beauty of our pilates studio, is that we can always schedule you in for a private session and tailor your pilates experience especially to you. Our instructors are capable of teaching all styles of lessons and can cater to prenatal, postnatal, injury prevention and injury recovery. No matter how you found pilates and for what reason, we are here to help you maximize your experience and deepen your knowledge of the practice. You can schedule a private session with us using this link or emailing us at info@miamipilates.co

  5. We don’t take things personally.

We know you may have had a rough day at work or something else is on your mind. We love that you come to class to unwind, reenergize and recharge. Exercise is the best way to release dopamine and feel happier and healthier and we are grateful that we can be apart of your journey to help you reach your goals. We can’t wait to see you in class with us!
